The Raiders are keeping one of their biggest stars around for the long-term.

After trade rumors have surrounded Maxx Crosby throughout his time in Las Vegas, the pass rusher is signing a contract extension with the team, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The deal is set to make Crosby the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, resetting the market for defensive stars in the league.

Maxx Crosby contract details

Crosby was scheduled to hit free agency after the 2026 season, putting his future with the Raiders in doubt. With the defensive star nearing his 30s and Las Vegas now entering a new era under Pete Carroll, there were reasons for the franchise to consider trading Crosby following a 4-13 season.

Instead, the Raiders doubled down on their dominant pass rusher. Per Schefter, Crosby will be getting an extension worth three years and $106.5 million, including $91.5 million guaranteed. That will make him the highest-paid player that doesn’t play quarterback in league history.

Crosby’s reported $35.5 average annual value surpasses the non-quarterback record set by Justin Jefferson, who has a $35 million AAV over his four-year deal with the Vikings. That $35.5 million AAV for Crosby also resets the market for edge rushers, as the previous high was a $34 million AAV for the 49ers‘ Nick Bosa, per Over the Cap.

As one of the league’s top pass rushers, Crosby will be sticking around with the Raiders through the next few seasons. Crosby posted to his social media soon after the extension was announced, with a video that begins with him saying he wants to be “a Raider for life.”

The Raiders held a press conference with Crosby soon after the deal was announced. When asked about becoming the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history, Crosby said “the money is incredible,” but it won’t “change my approach.”

Raiders general manager John Spytek said the extension was “a big commitment,” but “there is no one we’d rather do it with than Maxx.” Spytek, who was hired by the team in January, also spoke on Crosby’s future.

Crosby was born Aug. 22, 1997, meaning he just finished his age-27 season in 2024. By the time next season begins, he’ll be 28.

His new contract with Las Vegas will take him through his age-32 season.
