BREAKING NEWS: Fans Roast Seahawks Over Reported DK Metcalf Trade Demands .giang

Seattle Seahawks star wide receiver DK Metcalf is reportedly seeking a trade, but his desire to leave may not materialize unless the team significantly lowers its current asking price.

Metcalf, who has been with Seattle for six seasons, is said to be looking for an opportunity with a team he considers a stronger Super Bowl contender. While the Seahawks finished 10-7 last season and narrowly missed the playoffs, Metcalf apparently does not view them as a legitimate championship-caliber squad moving forward.

However, trading him won’t come cheap. According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Seattle is seeking a first-round pick and a third-round pick in exchange for Metcalf, a steep price that has left many NFL fans shaking their heads.

Unlikely to Get Full Asking Price

While Metcalf is an elite playmaker, teams may be hesitant to meet Seattle’s high trade demands, particularly since acquiring him would also mean negotiating a lucrative contract extension. Metcalf is reportedly seeking a deal worth around $30 million per year, a price tag that only a few teams would be willing to pay on top of surrendering premium draft capital.

The Seahawks’ high asking price appears to be a strategic move to create leverage in negotiations, but many fans and analysts aren’t buying it. Social media reactions have been swift and ruthless, with many mocking Seattle for overvaluing their star wideout.

Some fans pointed out that while Metcalf is an explosive receiver, his production last season—66 catches for 992 yards and five touchdowns—wasn’t quite on par with the elite numbers expected of a player commanding a massive contract. His best season came in 2020 when he posted 83 catches for 1,303 yards and 10 touchdowns, but his numbers have fluctuated since.

Timing of Trade Request Raises Questions

Metcalf’s trade request also came on the same day that the Seahawks moved on from another veteran wide receiver, adding further intrigue to the situation. While tensions between the two sides could potentially be resolved, it seems unlikely unless Seattle offers him a significant contract extension.

Metcalf is currently entering the final year of the three-year, $72 million extension he signed in 2022. If the Seahawks aren’t willing to meet his demands for a long-term deal, it’s understandable why he would prefer to move on.

However, unless Seattle budges on its current asking price, a trade might not happen anytime soon.

As the offseason unfolds, all eyes will be on whether the Seahawks reconsider their stance or if a desperate team steps up to meet their demands. Either way, Metcalf’s situation has already become one of the most talked-about storylines of the NFL offseason.
